With the concert “About Life, Identity & Death”<\/em> on April 20 at the “Balkan” cinema, the ensemble Metamorfozis<\/em> officially opened its 17th concert season, titled “Endless Poetry.”<\/em> This event continued the ensemble’s tradition of presenting interesting programs to both local and international audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program featured works by Pergolesi, Gabriel Prokofiev, Airat Ishmuratov, P\u0113teris Vasks, Samuel Barber, and Dmitri Shostakovich. The guest performers were members of the Academic Choir “Obili\u0107.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sa\u0161a Mirkovi\u0107, the artistic director of the ensemble, commented on the performance: “This concert reflects the situation we’ve been going through in recent years\u2014it’s a reflection on suffering and hardship, as well as a tribute to all victims, whether of war, illness, or personal struggles. It\u2019s about the process of realization, acceptance, confrontation, and survival. It’s about making our suffering meaningful.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belgrade chamber ensemble Metamorfozis<\/em> was founded in 2005 at the initiative of violist and artistic director Sa\u0161a Mirkovi\u0107, along with Tatjana Jovanovi\u0107 Mirkovi\u0107. Since its inception, the ensemble has been dedicated to performing boundary-pushing genres of art music, including new music, world music, and well-known works from the Western European musical tradition in a “new guise”\u2014with different, fresh arrangements and stage settings that serve as a response to contemporary moments, audience tastes, and global performance practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recent years, the Metamorfozis<\/em> ensemble and the Sa\u0161a Mar\u010deta Foundation have established a partnership that has resulted in both concert performances and recordings for future projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
