On Thursday, June 3, at the National Theatre “To\u0161a Jovanovi\u0107” in Zrenjanin, soprano Marija Ne\u0161i\u0107 held a concert titled The History of a Love<\/em> (Historia de un Amor).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concert was organized by the Sa\u0161a Mar\u010deta Foundation as a gift to the audience in Zrenjanin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The repertoire included popular songs like O Sole Mio<\/em>, Granada<\/em>, Chitarra Romana<\/em>, as well as works by renowned Italian composers Giacomo Puccini and Nino Rota, among many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In one of the most beautiful theater buildings in Serbia, Marija Ne\u0161i\u0107 brought the atmosphere of Italy’s warm south with music that charmed, along with classical masterpieces that the audience enthusiastically embraced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The audience had the opportunity to enjoy not only the incredible energy and rich soprano of Marija Ne\u0161i\u0107 but also the music of the nine-member Maria Orchestra, featuring pianist Milivoje Velji\u0107, accordionist Neboj\u0161a Ljubenovi\u0107, guitarist Zoran Ani\u0107, percussionist Dmitrij Ivanilov, bassist Stevan Bata Kova\u010devi\u0107, violinists Jelena Cakovi\u0107 Ljubenovi\u0107 and Isidora Drami\u0107anin, violist Ljuba Milovanovi\u0107, and cellist Jasmina Mima Vrbani\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Theatre “To\u0161a Jovanovi\u0107” is the oldest theater building in Serbia, established in 1839 when a grain warehouse was converted into a theater. According to legend, it was built out of the immense love of a wealthy local citizen for a famous actress from Pest; in order to bring her closer and entice her to visit the town, he constructed the theater. The interior of the theater, thanks to preserved original plans, has been authentically restored.
