The exhibition \u201cThank you, Ra\u0161a Todosijevi\u0107\u2014Grateful Serbia\u201d ran from June 20 to July 20 and presented a unique overview of works created from the late 1970s to recent watercolors from 2019. The selected works were initiated through significant international museum exhibitions. By relocating from the protected zone of museum integrity to a private-public exhibition space, a sensitive field of (non)acceptance and potential, desired critical judgment from the public and audience opens up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Other World<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

From September 25 to October 10, the doors of the Balkan Cinema served as a gateway to \u201cThe Other World,\u201d an exhibition that brought together twelve artists inspired by technology and the profound questions about humanity’s place in the virtual world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participating artists in this exhibition were: Selman Trtovac, Ana \u0106uzovi\u0107, Iva \u0106iri\u0107, Nenad Gaji\u0107, Milan Li\u010dina, \u017darko Aleksi\u0107, Iva Atoski, Miroslav Mi\u0161a Savi\u0107, Stevan Koji\u0107, Nata\u0161a Teofilovi\u0107, Branislav Brki\u0107, and Jasna Jovi\u0107evi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The closing of the exhibition was marked by a performance by Miroslav Mi\u0161a Savi\u0107, who symbolically expressed the fusion of modern human existence and technology through the sounds of lightning, brain waves, and thunder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Balkan Live \u2013 Live Painting Session<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the last weekend of August, we opened the doors of the Balkan Cinema to the creators of the local street art scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the two-day project \u201cBalkan Live,\u201d artists painted canvases, panels, and walls of the Balkan Cinema. This unique event was open to all interested visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artists who showcased their work were Sobekcis, Junk, Hesoyam, TKV, Dulait, Marz, Das Drogen, Nikola, Rage, Sensi, Wuper, and Super Timor, all accompanied by DJ UVEQ\u2019s music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VR Film at the Balkan Cinema<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the Beldocs Festival, held from September 3 to 10, visitors had the opportunity to explore the works of four authors: Jan Kounen, Diego Kompel, Ana Kne\u017eevi\u0107, and Milad Tangshir in the space of the Balkan Cinema using VR equipment provided by the cinema. Documentary film enthusiasts experienced how virtual reality merges humans and machines, reality and abstraction, offering entirely new dimensions for the artist as a creator and for consumers in their experience of an artwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

May ULUPUDS Exhibition: Artistic Revolt<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The May ULUPUDS exhibition, themed “Artistic Revolt,” was held at the Balkan Cinema from October 15 to 30, 2020. The exhibition brought together more than 117 artists, with their works displayed throughout the historic venue, curated by Iva Lekovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A supporting program featured a panel discussion titled “The Female Artistic Signature: Does It Exist and How Can We Define It?” with speakers Lidija Jovanovi\u0107, president of ULUPUDS, Larisa \u017dupanjevac, and Dragana Nikolajevi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the official closing of the 52nd May ULUPUDS exhibition (Artistic) Revolt on October 30, 2020, 11 awards were presented by three selection committees. The Grand Prize of the May Exhibition was awarded to Marina Ranisavljev Kocarev for her work Where Is the Soul or Diary of a Shirt.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
