Marking their 15th anniversary, Belgrade-based chamber ensemble Metamorphosis has recorded five live performances in the Balkan Cinema, which are going to be streamed on several online platforms.
The first performance entitled “Water” will be livestreamed February 28 at 6 p.m. on the YouTube channel of “Hudba u Fullu” (https://youtube.com/channel/UC7c3rPMdw5A2wUklQhtYL4g), the concert series held in Ružemberok, Slovakia. The same day at 8 p.m., the live performance will be available for streaming on the official Metamorphosis’ YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/user/METAMORPHOSISasha) and Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ensemblemetamorphosis/). The repertoire will include the works by John Adams, Benjamin Britten, Peter Machajdik and John Dowland.
Saša Mirković, the violist and artistic director of the ensemble Metamorphosis, tells us about their upcoming concerts: “This year we are celebrating our 15th anniversary and, on that occasion, we wanted to make a series of concerts in a space where we feel good and in partnership with people we have been collaborating with for a while now. Since performing in front of an audience is not an option, we decided to record the concerts for all classical and art music lovers. We are going to make five live performances and stream them on various media including our Facebook page and YouTube channels; they will also be televised or streamed on the channels of certain festivals and organizations in Slovakia, Italy and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Each concert bears a unique title, and the whole series is called „Pillars”. The central theme is elements, everything that surrounds us. We have “Water”, “Fire”, “Air”, we will play the program “Summon Stars“ so it will be quite diverse. A large part of the repertoire is what we have been doing for a long time: Serbian music and premiere performances, but also contemporary works by foreign composers along with an innovative approach to works by old maestros.
The recently established cooperation between Metamorphosis and the Saša Marčeta Foundation resulted in concerts and recorded music intended for some future projects.
