Christoph Rütimann

Christoph Rütimann (*1955)

Christoph Rütimann is a second-generation performance artist. He is also a painter, draftsman, sculptor, photographer, and video artist. Despite his diverse artistic practices, his work is always marked by a performative approach. His works about Belgrade are video explorations of cities like Belgrade. Over a span of 19 years, Rütimann created intricate Geh-Lander video-railway recordings in various cities around the world, capturing structures like rails, pipes, or fences.

These are documented in films featuring shots taken from surprising, unconventional angles, revealing the city’s topography and its inhabitants.

Another performance about the White City is 5 Cultural Porcelain Masts – The Great Stick – which, besides being objects, play a symbolic role as partners in the defense of culture. They will literally STAY HERE WITH YOU in Belgrade and find partners in the cultural context due to their cultural influence. Even the wooden original, created by nature through the process of apple tree culture inoculation, will find its partner in Serbia.
