TO NOVI SAD WITH LOVE
SYNAGOGUE, Jevrejska 11
Tuesday 27th December, 8 PM
It is our great pleasure to invite you to soprano Marija Nešić’s concert titled “To Novi Sad with Love”, which will take place on Tuesday December 27th at 8 p.m., at the Novi Sad Synagogue. The New Year’s gala concert will also feature 52 members of the Zrenjanin philharmonic orchestra, conducted by maestro Mikica Jevtić.
In anticipation of Christmas and New Year’s festivities the concert’s repertoire will include performances from Bizet’s Carmen, Strauss’s Tritsch-Tratsch Polka and The Blue Danube, the legendary Nino Rota’s Parla piu piano, to Puccini’s compositions O mio babbino caro and Quando me’n vo’, ending with Radetzky march. A special guest from Germany, the well-known tenor Bela Mavrak, will greet the audience with duet performances of Lehar’s Lippen schweigen and the aria Dein ist mein ganzes Herz.
The underlying themes are love and beauty as inspiration—the threads that bind Marija’s musical creativity. Her rich voice’s extraordinary energy earned her the reputation of an opera singer whose emotionally charged concerts are known among audiences to celebrate love as the essence of a good life.
“I am a big fan of opera and I, personally, prefer Italian composers Giacomo Puccini and Nino Rota, among others. I equally enjoy various genres of high-quality music, and it gives me great pleasure and happiness to sing my favourite arias, which I believe my audience senses”, says Maria during her preparations for the upcoming concert in Novi Sad.
Marija Nešić performed as the Belgrade National Theatre’s Ensemble member from 2015 to 2019, singing in the opera choir as well as a soloist in Puccini’s aria “Mimi” from the opera La Bohème. She graduated from the Belgrade’s Faculty of Law. Her most notable public performances include the concert Passione at the Balkan Cinema (2019), Historia de un amor at the National Theatre in Zrenjanin (2021), and the Solo Concert Luštica Bay (2022).
Gala concert “To Novi Sad with Love”, organized by the Foundation Saša Marčeta and supported by numerous partners, is a gift to the audience and city of Novi Sad, which has held the prestigious title of 2022 European Capital of Culture. All music lovers are welcome to attend the concert free of charge.
